Doubs (/duː/, DOO; French: [du] (listen); Arpitan: Dubs) is a department in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region in Eastern France. Named after the Doubs River, it had a population of 538,549 in 2016. Its prefecture is Besançon and subprefectures are Montbéliard and Pontarlier.
