The Tashkent Television Tower (Uzbek: Тошкент Телеминораси, Toshkent Teleminorasi) is a 375-metre-high (1,230 ft) tower, located in Tashkent, Uzbekistan and is the twelfth tallest tower in the world. Construction started in 1978. The tower began operating six years later, on 15 January 1985. It was the fourth tallest tower in the world from 1985 to 1991. The decision to construct the tower was made on 1 September 1971 in order to spread TV and radio signals to all over Uzbekistan. It is a vertical cantilever structure, and is constructed out of steel. Its architectural design is a product of the Terkhiev, Tsarukov & Semashko firm.
